Tonight.
Tonight was a victory for fear. Tonight was a victory for the elite and the established. Hillary is not the candidate of change. She is neither progressive nor ground-breaking. She is a liar. She is a coward. Those who would hand her the victory despite the popular vote are cowards. She took the low road. Her candidacy is based on entitlement. How dare anyone challenge the Clinton machine. We all must be stupid, or naive, or misguided for supporting Obama. We must be missing the big picture. We just don’t get it, do we Hillary? This was your year right? Everyone knew it was. You had no challenge. The race was yours. UNTIL YOU LOST IT. AND YOU ARE STILL LOSING. AND YOU WILL LOSE. Those of us who would deny the first woman presidency must the sickest form of chauvinists. Women who support Barack are traitors to their sex. She knows she can’t win without women feeling this way, so she absolutely exploits it. Every single god damn speech, she makes reference to her gender, and what a fucking hero she must be for breaking that glass ceiling. But people won’t forget that she has been handed everything her whole life. She hasn’t struggled. She didn’t make it on her own. She was born into one of the wealthiest Republican households in Illinois. She supported the Vietnam war until her classmates opposed it, much like she supported the Iraq war until it was more popular to oppose it. She hitched her wagon to a man, a man who cheated her and exploited her and abused her and humiliated her, and she wouldn’t leave him. She wouldn’t abandon that wagon. Not because she is some loyal wife. She didn’t stay for her child, it was because she couldn’t win the presidency without him. How does that make you feel women? She isn’t a female hero. SHE is the worst kind of female chauvinist.
Obama never once made a reference to his race, except to defend himself when Hillary played to a racism explosion after the Rev. Wright controversy, in the most beautiful and eloquent and honest speech on race relations in this country since Lincoln. He never painted himself as a black hero. He never acted as though he was entitled to anything. He never played the victim. He came out of nowhere. He didn’t have to hitch his campaign to the wagon of anyone else. HE EARNED IT FOR HIMSELF. Everything he has is his. He was raised by a single mother on food stamps. He put himself through law school and become the editor of the Harvard Law Review, and a nationally recognized expert on the constitution. He turned down wealthy gigs at top law firms, and took a dead end job helping poor people in one of the most downtrodden neighborhoods in the country. And Hillary has the audacity to call him an elitist. Now he has risen from obscurity to become the front runner to the presidency on his talent alone. Call me a sexist if you will, but wealthy white women DO NOT share an equal struggle in this country with poor black men. Obama opposed the Iraq war when it wasn’t the popular thing to do. He refused to bow down the shit tactics of Hillary Clinton, even though it may cost him the election. He is pure honesty, and pure grace.
Since he took the lead, she acts like she is the candidate of rebellion; as if voting for her is voting for the poor abused underdog. She could not be more status quo. She refers to Barack as the big spender, the big money candidate. She fails to mention that he spends more because he has RAISED more, and all from more than a million donors giving less than five hundred dollars, which means donations from ordinary people, not wealthy political interests, which have been her primary backers. She drives home the idea that she has the substance, the ideas, the solutions to make us all happy and rosy faced once again. She wants you to think if she wins your life will be better because her last name is Clinton. Our constitution is designed to prevent the President from just doing whatever they want to do. For all her great ideas, she will maybe get one thing done a year. The President can’t just bring all their good ideas into fruition. The Presidency is a position of leadership, of management, and of bringing people together to work for common solutions. It isn’t about electing the candidate with the best ideas, it is about electing the candidate who has the ability to get the best ideas across. With candidates who are remarkably similar on policy issues, you have to look to other qualities to choose who will be the best nominee. People by in large don’t support Hillary because they have any tremendous affection for her, as they do for Obama. Her supporters are: people so afraid of the world they need Hillary’s “experience” to feel safe, women who can’t bring themselves to vote against a woman, racists who won’t tolerate a black President, and who are determined to defeat him with pathetic comparisons of his name to Osama, or accusations that he is a Muslim, or finally people who are so hopelessly cynical and devoid of optimism they are actually turned off by a Presidential candidate who talks about hope triumphing over fear. Unfortunately for her, hope is still triumphant in the human spirit. In the end, the basic goodness of humanity will win out in the American spirit. Fear and suspicion and division may play better to the media, and so she may be successful for a time, but in the end he will win. He will win even if he loses the election. He will win, because his ideals are better.
More to come. Thanks for caring.
